Sustained Silent Reading - the Return

I tested it last semester and got good anecdotal results, so I will continue adapting the middle school practice of Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) into my university courses this fall.
In adapting it, I did not give a choice of reading but had them read either the text for the day's lesson or for the next lesson.
Otherwise, the ground rules remained mostly the same: no devices, no talking, I read with them, 20-25 minutes.

AI natives vs AI immigrants

Let's face it - we're pretty much all AI immigrants (source) these days. Coming to the ever-increasing AI options as new kids on the block. Struggling to accept the ubiquity of the technology.
But, in terms of education, imagine students 5 years from now. They will be the AI natives - the ones who use the technology as if it's second-nature, the ones who cannot imagine an education setting without the use of AI.
